Recently it seems as if virtually everyone is experiencing financial distress due to the disturbance in our economy. Time continues to pass by and it doesn’t look as if the financial system is getting any better. More people continue to lose their jobs; the deficit is still increasing, and home losses are still on the rise.

One issue that is also negatively effecting Americans is that credit card debt is rising to unparalleled levels. With all the other financial problems, it’s no wonder people are having such a tough time trying to get out of debt.

Somestimes it seems as if the creditors conspire make it as hard as they can for debtors to get out of debt. The trap they set is by using monthly minimum payments and high interest rates. Consumers become addicted to only having to put out the minimum, and this behavior breeds high debt balances. Once debtors are trapped with a high balance, then the credit card banks will slam them with high interest rates.

Even with the standard interest rate it will take over 30 years to pay off your credit card balance with the minimum payment plan – and over four times the original balance will be paid in interest alone. Now add in the fact that the interest rate has now been bumped up, and these figures go up drastically. The debtor could very well be dead before they finish paying down their credit cards. Along with the state of affairs our economy is facing, this is a formula for financial hardship for tens of millions of US residents.

There is one resolution that has been aiding debtors and that solution is debt settlement, a procedure for saving money and more importantly time. Debt settlement offers the consumer an opportunity to get out of credit card debt within a few years, instead of three or more decades, and with debt settlement consumers will be saving a large amount of cash on what they currently owe towards the credit card companies.

This is amazing for those debtors who are caught real deep in credit card debt right now and have been slammed pretty badly by the ailing financial system. Credit card debt settlement can offer these people a promise that one day their financial situation will get back under control and they can enjoy a much more prosperous life.

It should honestly be everyone’s number one priority right now to escape this mountain of credit card debt. No one should be left hung out to dry and lose all they have struggled for their whole lives to the greedy credit card banks.
